Are Molded Trays Better Than Whitening Strips?
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008Simple answer…YES!
Okay, I’ll give you a more detailed answer.
The problem with whitening strips is the strip usually does not cover the entire surface of the tooth leaving you with a blotchy tooth. Now this isn’t always the case, but is very common.
On the positive side of things, strips are easy to use and very affordable. So they’re not all bad. Would I choose them over a tooth tray with gel? NOPE! A molded tray that fits your teeth is still the best solution for home whitening.
You can still get your molds done by our dentist, or you can buy the tooth whitening kits that come with everything you need including custom molding tray material. Now you have everything you need to get started in the comfort of your own home.
So what’s the reason I would choose custom trays over whitening strips? Simple, the tray allows the gel to touch every part of my tooth surface leaving a perfectly whitened tooth, no blochyness going on.
Tooth whitening kits are a little more expensive then whitening strips, but well worth the extra few bucks.
If your smile and teeth are important, which of course they are, then I would go with the trays. You’ll be glad you did.
Remember, this is just a recommendation and opinion. If you have had great success with whitening strips then there is no need to stop. Always do what works!
