Laser Sounds Scary…Are They?
Friday, May 2nd, 2008In the movies lasers are usually used as weapons for or machines to cut through steel doors. In dentistry, lasers are used entirely different. Our lasers won’t cut through’ doors nor are they used for weapons. Our dental lasers are very friendly. You can hold your hand up to them and you won’t really feel anything.
Because of how Hollywood as portraid lasers, people look at “dental lasers” and think the laser will go right through their tooth and out their jaw. This is not the case at all. Please don’t get them confused with hollywood lasers. Our dental lasers are very safe very comfortable for patients.
When the laser is in use you might here some popping noise from the machine, but don’t be frightened, that is just the water coming in contact with the laser beam. It is not the sound of the laser cutting through your tooth.
So are lasers scary? In the movies maybe, but in dentistry NO! Dental lasers are a great, safe way to get your dental needs taken care of.
