Can I Really Get a Crown in One Visit?
Monday, January 28th, 2008Yes! Isn’t that fantastic?
Traditionally when you need a crown, your dentist has to take impressions and send them to the lab. In the meantime, your dentist places temporary crowns to get you buy for a week or two until the lab has completed your crown. You come back a second time and your crown is finally placed.
With Cerec Crowns, temporary crowns and second visits are of the past. A cerec crown is done using 3-D imaging cameras a computer software. Our cerec certified dentists are able to take pictures of your tooth and create your crown using cerec software on a computer. That’s right, your crown is created on a computer!
Next, our dentist will electronically send the finished crown image to the cerec milling machine, located in the dental office. No more sending the crown impression to the dental lab! A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the cerec milling machine. About 10 – 20 minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. There is no need for temporary crowns or return visits. It’s all done in a single appointment.
